Description (v) Features
The MAX1873TEEE is a highly efficient, highly integrated, and precision DC-DC step-up converter designed for battery-powered systems requiring low-voltage outputs. It is manufactured by Maxim Integrated, a global leader in analog and mixed-signal semiconductor products. One of the key features of the MAX1873TEEE is its high efficiency, which enables extended battery life in portable devices. With an input voltage ranging from 0.85V to 1.6V, the converter can output voltages ranging from 1.8V to 5V, making it suitable for a wide range of low-voltage applications. The IC component integrates a high-frequency boost converter, a Schottky diode, and a low-dropout linear regulator. This integration minimizes the external component count and saves valuable board space, making it an ideal choice for space-constrained applications. The MAX1873TEEE also incorporates a unique control scheme known as pulse-frequency modulation (PFM) to achieve very high efficiency. During light loads, it automatically switches to PFM mode, reducing power dissipation and consequently increasing efficiency. This feature is particularly useful in battery-powered devices where minimizing power consumption is crucial. The device includes an internal synchronous rectifier that improves efficiency by minimizing voltage drops across the diode. This synchronous rectification further enhances overall system efficiency by reducing power losses
