Coil Inductance Calculator
The coil inductance formula is based on basic loop inductance. Inductance is the ability to store energy in a magnetic field, and coils are a very common way to create inductance. Many magnetic field coupled circuits, such as chokes and transformers, take advantage of the magnetic storage properties of coils.
Wire Loop Inductance Description
The inductance of a wire loop is a common example of a circuit with inductance. The variables used in this tool are the diameter of the wire and the diameter of the wire loop, the number of turns, and the relative permeability. The inductance of a coil is related to the inductance of a single loop as the square of the number of turns.
