Description (v) Features
The NCP1205P is an integrated circuit (IC) component designed for power factor correction (PFC) applications. It is specifically developed for offline power supplies with universal inputs. This IC offers various key features that make it suitable for a broad range of power factor correction systems. The NCP1205P operates with pulse width modulation (PWM) techniques to achieve high power factor and low total harmonic distortion (THD). It is capable of delivering a continuous output power of up to 160 watts. This IC has an internal 500 V startup current source, eliminating the need for an external bias supply during startup. Furthermore, it can operate at a wide input voltage range from 85 VAC to 265 VAC. To provide optimal control, the NCP1205P incorporates a proprietary average current control method. This approach enables precise regulation of the output voltage, resulting in highly accurate power delivery. Additionally, it utilizes a patented frequency foldback technique that ensures enhanced performance during overload and short-circuit conditions. The IC offers an extensive range of protection features to ensure safe and reliable operation. It includes cycle-by-cycle current limit, hiccup mode short-circuit protection, and overvoltage protection functionalities. These safeguards prevent damage to the IC and the surrounding components in case of abnormal operation or fault conditions. The NCP1205P is designed with a comprehensive set of applications in mind
