Kionix, Inc. was founded in 1993 and is headquartered in Ithaca, New York, USA. The company is specializing in the design and manufacturing of microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) inertial sensors, including accelerometers and gyroscopes. These sensors are widely used in various applications, including consumer electronics, automotive systems, industrial equipment, and more. Kionix utilizes a deep-silicon, proprietary MEMS technology known as plasma micromachining for its high-volume production. As such, the Company holds an extensive portfolio of licensed and internally-developed intellectual property. In 2009, Kionix was acquired by ROHM Co., Ltd.(OTCMKTS:ROHCY), a Japanese semiconductor and electronic component manufacturer. This acquisition has strengthened Kionix's position in the MEMS sensor market.
